Senior Software Engineer (Back End Focus) – Hybrid – Glasgow or Edinburgh
Our client is continuing to invest heavily in a high-profile, fast-growing digital team that operates with real autonomy inside a well-established and highly respected organisation. This team has a genuine start-up feel — moving quickly, making decisions locally, and owning what they build — while still benefiting from the stability, backing, and long-term vision of the wider business.
They’re now looking to add a number of Senior Software Engineers to support a growing pipeline of greenfield and evolving platforms, all focused on making personal wealth services more accessible, not just for high-net-worth individuals, but for everyone.
This is a highly visible area of the business where good ideas travel fast, engineers have real influence, and progression happens naturally as the team grows.
The RoleThese roles sit within a small, ambitious engineering group that works closely together and takes pride in building things properly. While there is exposure across the stack, the emphasis is firmly on back-end development, building scalable services, APIs, and platforms on the Microsoft and Azure stack.
You’ll be trusted to work independently, make sensible technical decisions, and help shape how the team builds software as it continues to scale.
Day to day, you’ll be involved in:
- Designing and building robust back-end services and RESTful APIs using C#, .NET and .NET Core
- Working with Azure across cloud services, environments, and CI/CD pipelines
- Applying strong engineering principles and best practice, including clean code and sensible architecture
- Working closely with data, integrations, and cloud infrastructure
- Collaborating on design decisions while still having the autonomy to own your work
- Contributing to a Dev Ops-led culture with modern deployment and release practices
We’re keen to speak with experienced engineers who enjoy working in smaller, empowered teams and who care about how software is built, not just getting it out of the door.
Strong experience in most of the following would be ideal:
- Azure and cloud-based development
- RESTful APIs and service-based architectures
- SQL / T-SQL (No
SQL experience also welcomed) - Git and modern version control workflows
- CI/CD
, ideally using YAML pipelines
Nice to have, but not essential:
- Containerisation (Docker)
- BDD / TDD approaches and automated testing
- Messaging technologies (e.g. Rabbit
MQ) - Front-end exposure (Angular / Type Script) to support collaboration
- Any experience in financial systems, modelling, or analytical tooling
- Salary range £45,000 – £65,000
, depending on experience - Excellent bonus and benefits package
- Hybrid working, typically 2–3 days per week in Glasgow or Edinburgh
- A genuine opportunity to fast-track your career in a growing, high-impact team
- Real autonomy and visibility — your work will be noticed
- A chance to help shape products that aim to broaden access to personal wealth services
, not just serve the traditional market
