Android Developer

• Strong commercial experience with Kotlin and/or Java
• Experience using Android Studio
• Experience building Android applications using MVVM architecture
• Strong understanding of Jetpack Compose
• Familiarity with Android Jetpack libraries such as Live Data, Navigation Component/Nav Graph, and local persistence solutions such as Object Box
• Experience working with Coroutines for asynchronous programming
• Comfortable integrating with RESTful APIs using tools such as Retrofit
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
• Experience with Gradle
• Understanding of the Google Play release process
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery teams
• Strong debugging and problem solving skills

• Developing and maintaining features across our Android applications
• Collaborating closely with cross functional teams to deliver high quality digital products
• Building intuitive, visually engaging, and user friendly mobile experiences
• Writing clean, scalable, maintainable, and testable Kotlin code
• Supporting development activities across the family of Digital platforms
• Driving continuous improvement across development processes, tooling, and customer experiences
• Identifying opportunities to enhance app performance, usability, and engineering practices

We are a global IT consultancy delivering digital transformation for an enterprise-scale end customer. This Android Engineer role is based in Glasgow with a hybrid arrangement of one day a week in the office. The day rate is £350 to £400, and the role is inside IR35. We work in a fast-moving Agile environment and value clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while building high-quality mobile applications.
