Java Backend Engineer IRC

Description

We're looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to design and build robust, scalable microservices. You'll work across the full backend stack - from API design through to production-grade integration testing - using modern Java and Spring technologies.

• Strong hands-on experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3
• Proven experience building and maintaining microservices architectures
• Practical experience with Kafka (producers, consumers, event-driven patterns)
• Strong understanding of REST API design best practices
• Proficiency with Gradle for build management
• Familiarity with Map Struct and Feign
• Working knowledge of domain-driven design (DDD) patterns
• Integration-testing mindset - comfortable testing services in realistic, end-to-end scenarios, not just isolated units

• Design, build, and maintain backend microservices using Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3
• Design and implement clean, well-documented REST APIs
• Build event-driven services using Kafka for asynchronous communication
• Apply domain-driven design principles to structure services around business capabilities
• Use Map Struct for clean object mapping and Feign for service-to-service communication
• Manage builds and dependencies using Gradle
• Write meaningful integration tests (not just unit tests) to ensure real-world reliability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, maintainable code

• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience working in cloud-native environments (AWS/Azure/GCP)
