Description

As a Customs Assistant, you will collaborate closely with the Customs Compliance Officer to facilitate customs clearance and compliance processes for the import and export of aircraft parts. Your role is critical in ensuring that all customs-related operations are conducted efficiently and in adherence to regulations, thereby supporting the smooth flow of materials for aircraft maintenance activities.

Your key responsibilities include examining and verifying documentation for imported and exported goods to ensure compliance with customs regulations and preparing and submitting accurate customs documentation. You will coordinate with suppliers and freight agents to enable smooth customs clearance and timely delivery of goods while maintaining precise records of all customs-related transactions and documentation.

Additionally, you will monitor updates to customs regulations and implement necessary changes to maintain compliance, assist in resolving customs-related issues and discrepancies promptly, and conduct audits of customs processes to identify and suggest improvements. Representing the organization effectively during customs audits, working closely with the Purchasing Team to align customs requirements with procurement activities, and providing guidance to internal stakeholders on customs regulations and compliance procedures are also integral aspects of your role.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, applicants must have proven experience in customs operations, including clearance and compliance, and a strong knowledge of customs regulations and international trade procedures. Familiarity with logistics processes, including air, sea, and road transport, is essential, along with excellent organizational and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required, and knowledge of OASES or similar systems is an advantage.

Additionally, experience in materials management or logistics within the aviation industry is desirable, as are strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues effectively.
