Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University (SSVM) is seeking Veterinary Technicians to join our new veterinary program and teaching hospital. The hospital is located 1.5 miles from our main Glassboro campus. SSVM is a new and innovative veterinary teaching hospital for small animals, equipped with state‑of‑the‑art equipment and designed to accommodate multiple specialty departments, including anesthesia, cardiology, dermatology, dentistry and oral surgery, diagnostic imaging, emergency/critical care, exotics, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, primary care, and surgery.
PositionSummary
These positions will support the clinical services in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital treating patients and educating students. Selected candidates will provide comprehensive, quality care to clients and patients, demonstrate a collaborative work culture, and problem‑solve in a fast‑growing environment.

- Support the teaching hospital’s specialty departments, including dentistry and oral surgery.
- Assist with surgical procedures, anesthesia monitoring, and post‑operative care.
Reports directly to the Veterinary Technician Manager.
Required Qualifications & Salary Information- Veterinary Technician (Credentialed, evidence of passing the VTNE)
- Level 1:
Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) certification eligible or achieved, or equivalent specialty‑level expertise; minimum 5 years clinical experience;
Probationary Rate $29.38/hr, Job Rate $30.02/hr, Max $30.68/hr. - Level 2:
Minimum 5 years clinical experience;
Probationary Rate $26.05/hr, Job Rate $26.68/hr, Max $27.36/hr. - Level 3:
Minimum 3 years clinical experience;
Probationary Rate $22.73/hr, Job Rate $23.36/hr, Max $24.02/hr; must have 4+ years of applicable experience for hire above probationary rate.
- Active license (CVT/LVT/RVT)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in performing prophylactic oral health assessments and cleanings.
- Familiar with common dental disease, oral surgery and post‑operative care.
- Proficient with anesthesia and anesthetic patient monitoring of ASA I‑III (preferred ASA I‑V).
- Experience in surgical assisting and post‑operative care.
- Able to obtain blood pressure, interpret basic ECG, SpO₂, and EtCO₂ and integrate clinical signs.
- Available for future on‑call rotation (required).
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities.
- Experience running diagnostic imaging (Cone Beam CT and Dental Radiographs).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to observe animal behavior and condition.
- Provide superior nursing care or emergency first aid to recovering or injured animals.
- Comfortable utilizing digital radiography machines and advanced diagnostic equipment.
- Hazards: potential exposure to slips, trips, falls, unpleasant odors, noises, animal feces and urine, bites, kicks, scratches, blood borne pathogens, hazardous drugs, radiation, toxic waste, chemical hazards such as disinfectants, pesticides, latex.
- Animals treated: small mammals, large mammals, livestock, reptiles, avians, and other exotic animals.
