Veterinary Assistants and Veterinary Technicians required for overnight shifts at the new Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine (SSVM) in Glassboro, New Jersey. This full‑time position supports clinical services, treats patients, and educates students in a growing, state‑of‑the‑art facility with specialty departments.

Deliver excellent client and patient care while training competent, confident graduates ready for practice from day one.

Support clinical services in emergency/critical care, provide patient care, and aid student education. Overnight shifts are required.

Veterinary Assistants and Veterinary Technicians report directly to the Veterinary Technician Manager.

Levels and rates (probationary and job rates) vary by experience and credentials. Initial rates are listed below and may increase after a six‑month probationary period.

• Veterinary Technicians (Credentialed, VTNE credential required)
• Level 1 – Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) certification eligible or achieved, or equivalent specialty‑level expertise; minimum 5 years clinical experience
  Probationary Rate: $29.38/hr;
  Job Rate: $30.02/hr;
  Max Rate: $30.68/hr
• Level 2 – Minimum 5 years clinical experience
  Probationary Rate: $26.05/hr;
  Job Rate: $26.68/hr;
  Max Rate: $27.36/hr
• Level 3 – Minimum 3 years clinical experience
  Probationary Rate: $22.73/hr;
  Job Rate: $23.36/hr;
  Max Rate: $24.02/hr
• Veterinary Assistants (Non‑Credentialed)
• Level 1 – Associate degree or higher; minimum 5 years clinical experience
  Probationary Rate: $22.73/hr;
  Job Rate: $23.36/hr;
  Max Rate: $24.02/hr
• Level 2 – Associate degree or higher; minimum 3 years clinical experience
  Probationary Rate: $19.41/hr;
  Job Rate: $20.36/hr;
  Max Rate: $20.70/hr; note: 4+ years applicable experience required for rates above probationary.

• Willing to work flexible hours (days, swing, or overnight) and weekends as needed.
• Overnight shifts will be required.
• Willing to assist as needed in other areas or departments within the hospital.
• Previous experience in a teaching environment.
• Previous experience in an emergency or urgent care veterinary practice.
• Adaptability to a fast‑growing and developing workplace.
• Excellent understanding of medical terminology, medications, calculations, and common emergency procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with co‑workers, clinicians, students, staff, and clients.

• Hazards – potential for slips, trips, falls, unpleasant odors, noises, animal feces and urine, bites, kicks, scratches, blood borne pathogens, hazardous drugs, radiation, toxic waste, and chemical hazards such as disinfectants, pesticides, and latex.
• Animals – small mammals, large mammals, livestock, reptiles, avians, and other exotic animals.

Rowan University is a public research institution in Glassboro, New Jersey. The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine opened its first DVM class in 2025 and includes an academic teaching facility, a small animal teaching hospital, and a research facility.
