Cardiology Veterinary Assistants and Veterinary Technicians – Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University
Full‑time position located in Glassboro, New Jersey. The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine is a newly established small‑animal teaching hospital with state‑of‑the‑art equipment and multiple specialty departments. These roles will support the clinical services in the veterinary teaching hospital, treating patients and educating students.
Position SummaryThe Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University (SSVM) is seeking Veterinary Assistants and Veterinary Technicians to join our new veterinary program and teaching hospital, located 1.5 miles from our main Glassboro campus.

The Veterinary Assistants and Veterinary Technicians will report directly to the Veterinary Technician Manager.
Required Qualifications & Salary InformationThe starting rate for each level is equivalent to the probationary rate listed below based on the collective bargaining unit guidelines. After completion of a six‑month probationary period, the employee's pay can increase to the “Job Rate” for that position. Depending on experience, the candidate may be hired at the "Job Rate" to start.
Veterinary Technicians (Credentialed)- Level 1: Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) certification eligible or achieved, or equivalent specialty‑level expertise; minimum 5 years clinical experience;
Probationary Rate: $29.38/h;
Job Rate: $30.02/h;
Max Rate: $30.68/h. - Level 2: Minimum 5 years clinical experience;
Probationary Rate: $26.05/h;
Job Rate: $26.68/h;
Max Rate: $27.36/h. - Level 3: Minimum 3 years clinical experience;
Probationary Rate: $22.73/h;
Job Rate: $23.36/h;
Max Rate: $24.02/h.
- Level 1: Associate degree or higher; minimum 5 years clinical experience;

Max Rate: $20.70/h; employment must meet 4 + years of applicable experience to be hired above the probationary rate per the collective bargaining agreement.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a veterinary specialty or emergency department/service.
- Comfortable with anesthetic patient monitoring of ASA I‑III (preferred experience with ASA I‑V).
- Experience in anesthesia, surgical assisting, and post‑operative care.
- Prepare animals and instruments for surgery.
- Able to obtain blood pressure, interpret basic ECG, SpO₂, and EtCO₂ and integrate clinical signs with disease processes to assist doctors in early and appropriate intervention of patient care.
- CVT/LVT/RVT (active license)
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities (judgment, logic, creativity, conflict resolution)
- Familiar with common cardiac disease, cardiac surgery and post‑operative care
- Familiar with advanced imaging modalities such as echocardiogram and fluoroscopy
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to observe the behavior and condition of animals
- Provide superior nursing care or emergency first aid to recovering or injured animals
- Comfortable utilizing digital radiography machines to acquire images using proper technique and positioning
- Comfortable utilizing advanced diagnostic equipment
- Hazards: Veterinary workers may be exposed to hazards such as slips, trips, falls, unpleasant odors, noises, animal feces and urine; blood borne pathogens, hazardous drugs, radiation, toxic waste, and chemical hazards such as disinfectants, pesticides and latex.
