Associate Bridge Inspection, Structural Engineer – WSP, U.S.

WSP is currently searching for an Associate Bridge Inspection, Structural Engineer to join our Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team in New England. Offices are located in Boston, MA;
Worcester, MA;
Glastonbury, CT;
Merrimack, NH; and Providence, RI.

Impact
  • Work with the Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team on a variety of inspection projects.
  • Participate as a team member on Bridge, Tunnel & Ancillary Inspections.
  • Assist in preparing Bridge & Tunnel Load Ratings.
  • Support the development of plans and sketches using AutoCAD.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to execute project work.
  • Contribute to engineering tasks that develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
  • Learn basic principles of Bridge and Transportation Engineering.
  • Help with project research, field work, preliminary design calculations, and analysis.
  • Support the preparation of cost proposals and scope of work documents.
  • Collect and maintain project documentation.
  • Complete training on assignment‑specific tasks.
  • Practice responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in bridge, tunnel, or ancillary inspection or design, or other infrastructure‑related work.
  • Demonstrated interest in structures, transportation, or a related field and a strong desire to advance skills relevant to WSP’s work.
  • Physical capability to perform continuous field work, including working at heights, in close quarters, climbing, carrying ladders and gear, working in adverse weather conditions, at night, and around moving vehicles.
  • Potential to work 50% of the time in the field and 50% in the office.
  • Successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record check and a valid Driver’s License.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with others and express ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non‑engineering audience.
  • Ability to take direction from leadership, mentors, and managers on executive projects.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
  • Occasional travel, including potential overnight stays, may be required.
Preferred
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Membership in or active participation in local professional practice organizations.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $71,200 – $111,650. Compensation may vary based on education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
