Early Career Geotechnical Engineer

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Career Geotechnical Engineer! This position can sit out of the following offices:
Boston-MA, North Providence-RI, Glastonbury-CT, Worcester-MA, Shelton-CT, and other WSP offices throughout New England can be considered.

Be involved in projects with our Geotechnical and Tunneling Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact
  • Perform field observation and special inspection of subsurface investigations in soils and rock
  • Assist in geotechnical engineering design and analyses for bridges, buildings, tunnels, underground structures, and retaining walls under minimal supervision of senior engineers
  • Assist in preparation or drafting geotechnical memoranda, data reports and design reports
  • Perform field observation and special Inspection of geotechnical construction
  • Assist task leaders in preparation of reports and Contract Documents
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and project partners
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree Civil Engineering with a concentration in Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering, or a closely-related field.
  • 0 to 3 years of relevant experience
  • Proven knowledge of geotechnical engineering and working knowledge of related disciplines (Structures, Civil, and/or Environmental)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline‑specific design software (e.g., Micro Station, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Geo Slope, Plaxis, Settle, LPILE, GROUP, GRLWEAP, SEEP/W, Rock Sciences Software, etc), technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and other tools.
  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in work environment
  • Ability and willingness to travel and perform field work
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Prior design and/or construction experience of highway, bridge, building, and underground projects.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
  • A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.

Compensation

Expected Salary Range: $56,300-$92,900
