Environmental Health and Safety Project Manager
GZA Geo Environmental, Inc. (GZA) is currently seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Project Manager with 5 to 7 years of experience to support our EHS practice in our Glastonbury, Connecticut office.
The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in Environmental, Health, and Safety Regulatory Compliance consulting. This position requires excellent leadership qualities with a history of successfully managing projects in a collaborative work environment, demonstrated experience developing scope and budget proposals, schedules, EHS compliance, as well as ISO support in various industrial / manufacturing settings, experienced auditor, technical report writing, preparing and conducting EHS related training, and experience performing Industrial Hygiene monitoring.
The candidate should be self‑motivated, well organized, detail oriented, quality focused, safety‑minded, and must be able to multi‑task. The successful candidate will present themselves in a professional manner, be able to effectively interact and communicate directly with clients and have a positive work attitude that fosters relationships with clientele. The successful candidate will have the demonstrated ability to produce technical reports, prepare permits, and submit time‑sensitive documents to various government agencies.
Key requirements of the position are to grow and foster existing client relationships and proactively identify project opportunities and develop new clients. This position requires the candidate to serve as the onsite EHS compliance support for a variety of industrial clients. The successful candidate will need to be onsite at the various facilities to provide the EHS services GZA offers.
GZA puts a high value on technical strength, and the successful candidate must be technically solid with experience in the following areas:
- Environmental Compliance (Hazardous Waste Management, EPCRA Section 312 and 313 submittals, SPCC, Stormwater, UST regulations, Wastewater Permitting, etc.)
- OSHA 1910 and 1926 Safety Compliance
- Safety Auditing
- Experienced EHS Trainer
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental, Health and Safety, and/or Environmental Science (Master’s Degree a plus)
- Relevant local experience with regulatory knowledge and working relationships with the Connecticut business community, and federal, state, and local agencies
- Professional Certifications strongly desired
- Desire to manage and mentor staff and review and evaluate their work while fostering staff growth and development
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills and judgment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, regulators, and vendors
- 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER and 8‑hour Supervisor’s certifications
- Ability to travel, primarily in Connecticut but could include travel across the USA to support projects
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and knowledge of relevant technical software a plus.

The base salary for this position may range between $ to $. The actual base salary and total compensation will depend on many factors, including location, candidate experience, education, professional licensure, and other qualifications.
