OverviewThe Performance Engineer focuses on maximizing the efficiency, output, and reliability of gas turbines. This role involves analyzing operational data, planning and executing field performance tests, troubleshooting issues, optimizing control systems, and supporting decarbonization efforts. The engineer bridges technical performance with business goals through data-driven insights and collaboration with both technical and non-technical teams.
Responsibilities- Evaluate thermal performance, power output, heat rates, and component efficiencies using engineering principles and data.
- Plan, prepare, and execute performance tests on gas turbines and related power plant equipment.
- Identify inefficiencies and develop strategies to improve energy yield, system availability, and operational reliability.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues affecting performance, often using real-time and historical plant data.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders, preparing detailed reports on energy production and metrics.
- Utilize remote monitoring and advanced analytics for predictive maintenance and better decision-making.
- Contribute to solutions that reduce carbon emissions or are retrofittable for future decarbonization.
- Strong grasp of Gas Turbine/Aero-Derivative technologies.
- Proficiency in analyzing large datasets and performance monitoring tools.
- Experience with SCADA systems, KPIs, and dashboard development.
- Problem-solving skills with a focus on efficiency and availability.
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience processing large volumes of field data and translating it into actionable information.
- Experience in gas turbines and process improvement.
- Background in mechanical engineering, preferably with a BSME degree.
The position is based in an office building environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Glastonbury, CT.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
