In this role you will manage, coach, provide oversight and occasionally play a hands‑on role in manufacturing processes responsible for the production of aerospace quality products (tooling, ground and test support equipment) in a high‑mix, low‑volume production environment.
Responsibilities- Manage manufacturing engineers, including project scheduling and resource planning, and participate in all phases of hiring, review, and performance management.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for all new process development projects and extensions of existing products, including process design, machine‑tool programming, make/buy analysis, and project status follow‑up.
- Manage departmental activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test equipment and associated procedures.
- Develop and review engineering processes and procedures and administer MOM and BOM creation.
- Maintain technical integrity of manufacturing documentation and the Engineering Change Process (ECR).
- Ensure a regular and consistent schedule for departmental, cross‑departmental, project and post‑mortem meetings.
- Provide direct leadership, mentoring, and coaching to all site manufacturing engineers on technical standards and process ownership.
- Engage with customers on all aspects of products and product performance as needed.
- Interact directly with suppliers and manufacturers on issues related to manufacturing, testing, and production.
- Ensure team members consistently adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with 7–10 years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience in the aerospace industry.
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing a team of engineers across multiple disciplines.
- Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing and electrical engineering technical standards, principles, theories, and techniques.
- Knowledge of drafting standards (Y14.5M‑1994, Y14.38M, Y14.100M) and applicable ASTM standards.
- Knowledge of process control and measurement instrumentation (pressure, temperature, level, flow, force, and torque).
- Proficient in Solid Works with experience creating solid models and sheet‑metal flat patterns from customer‑supplied 2D design packages; 3D modeling simulation a plus.
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic schematics generated in AutoCAD 2D format.
- Working knowledge of GD&T.
- Strong computer proficiency (Office 365) and ERP systems background (Epicor/Kinetic a plus).
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Demonstrated leadership capability developing and leading cohesive teams.
- Detail oriented with ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize accordingly.
- Experience with AS9100, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement technical a plus.
