• Running activities when teachers are absent, need breaks or work a part-time schedule.
• Assist in multiple classrooms to cover for teachers or serve as a permanent substitute for days or weeks depending on what is needed. This typically involves managing and supervising groups of four to ten children, reviewing lesson plans, planning, implementing, and supervising the daily program for the class while upholding our school s philosophy.
• Manage the classroom by teaching and playing age-appropriate developmental activities. Follow our play-based approach to ensure children are excited about learning and engaged in activities. Be ready to take on any assigned task; teaching and assisting in the developmental growth of children is essential for this substitute position.
• Must complete the 10-hour Virginia Preservice training.

• Must possess a love for children and an ability to relate well with them, their families, and teachers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A positive attitude and work ethic – must be a team player.

• 6+ months of programmatic experience, working in a licensed and/or accredited child care facility required.
• Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child Development, or another child-related field. (assistance available for those who want to further their degree!)
• Does not have scheduling restrictions between the hours of 6:45 am-6:15 pm.

We will train you and give you valuable industry experience. Daycare, nanny, summer camp, babysitting, Montessori, and Reggio-Emilio experience welcome!
