Job Overview:

As a Title Underwriter, you will play a critical role in evaluating title risk, underwriting commitments and policies, and resolving intricate title issues. You will serve not only as a subject-matter expert, but also as a trusted partner to internal teams, outside settlement agents, and principal title insurance companies. The Title Underwriter is responsible for analyzing title searches to determine title status and identify conditions that must be satisfied prior to issuing title commitments.

This role works collaboratively with title companies to address questions of property insurability. The Title Underwriter prepares title commitments using agency software, corresponds with outside settlement agents regarding commitments, makes necessary revisions, and prepares owner’s and lender’s title insurance policies using firm software. Additionally, the Title Underwriter assists the Manager in ensuring that all documents required for policy issuance are returned by outside settlement agents in a timely manner and maintains strong working relationships with the agency’s principal title insurance companies.

Skills &

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree an accredited college or university (preferred)
  • Active Title Underwriter license
  • Knowledge of the mortgage industry and/or real estate (preferred)
  • Demonstrated professionalism, ethics, and strong character
  • Strong client service and relationship-building skills
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills
  • Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines
