Richmond - General Liability Attorney

A long-standing regional civil litigation firm known for thoughtful strategy and strong advocacy is hiring a General Liability Litigation Associate to join its Richmond, VA office. This position supports a growing general liability defense practice and offers hands‑on exposure to all phases of litigation in a firm known for trying cases, not just settling them. The associate will work closely with experienced partners and attorneys in a team‑based environment, taking on meaningful responsibility early while developing strong deposition, court, and client‑facing skills.

• Assist with and manage general liability matters with partner and senior attorney oversight
• Support cases from inception through resolution, including pleadings, discovery, and motion practice
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents
• Prepare, review, and respond to written discovery
• Conduct legal research in support of case strategy
• Participate in taking and defending depositions
• Appear in court for hearings, conferences, mediations, and trials
• Communicate with clients to provide case updates and support case strategy
• Collaborate within a team structure that includes attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants

• 1 – 5 years of general liability litigation experience
• Open to candidates from plaintiff or defense backgrounds
• Some experience taking or assisting with depositions
• Active Virginia Bar admission
• Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills
• Self‑starter with a proactive mindset and willingness to learn
• Interest in long‑term growth within a litigation‑focused firm
