Your Career

Roadmap:

Get Started:
Introductory Phase — $14/Hour:

Begin as a Service Greeter, Detailer, or Lube Technician at one of our locations. Learn how a dealership operates and demonstrate the habits that make a great technician: punctuality, reliable attendance, professional appearance, a can‑do attitude, and a strong sense of urgency.

You may also spend time in the Parts Department to learn how clear, detailed recommendations help move repairs forward.

Successful candidates advance to Level 1 Apprentice, generally when fall classes begin at Reynolds Community College.

Build Your

Skills:

Level 1 Apprentice — $16/Hour:

Work alongside a qualified Technician Trainer, receive your starter tools, and begin learning the systems and processes used in a professional Nissan service department.

During your first year, you'll complete Nissan's three-part Technician Certification training and begin coursework in:

  • Electrical systems and HVAC.
  • Engine controls and onboard diagnostics.
  • Chassis systems, noise, vibration, and harshness.
  • Driveline operation, diagnosis, and repair.

Complete at least 50% of the required specialist online coursework by the end of Year 1 to advance to Level 2, with all required coursework completed by the end of Year 2.

Take the Next Step:
Level 2 Apprentice:

Handle repairs beyond basic maintenance with mentor supervision while completing your second year at Reynolds.

Grow Your Skills—and Your Pay:
  • Earn a $2/hour raise for every three Automotive ASE certifications completed
    , with A6 and A7 prioritized.
  • Earn an additional $2/hour raise when you obtain your Virginia State Inspection License.
  • Earn an additional $2/hour raise after completing the designated Nissan classroom training and achieving Scope Engine 1 Specialist and DFRT/OBD II certification.

You'll also complete the required Nissan specialist online training and attend Engine Control Systems and On-Board Diagnostic Systems II classes at Nissan's training facility in Sterling, Virginia.

Launch Your Technician Career — $28 per Flat-Rate Hour:

Successfully complete the Level 2 phase and advance to Certified Technician at $28 per flat‑rate hour
. A hybrid pay plan may be available to help ease the transition to flat‑rate compensation.

Keep Advancing:

Your apprenticeship is the beginning. Loyalty Nissan supports continued development toward Master Nissan Technician status, including advanced training in electrical, engine, chassis, driveline, diesel, EV, hybrid, transmission and CVT systems — with opportunities to pursue GT‑R Specialist and Platinum Master certifications.

Who We're Looking For:

You bring the effort, curiosity, and commitment. We'll help you build the skills.

Our ideal candidate:
  • Shows up on time and is ready to work.
  • Takes pride in professional appearance and quality work.
  • Welcomes coaching and enjoys learning.
  • Works with urgency and a positive attitude.
  • Is committed to completing college coursework and manufacturer training.
  • Wants a long-term career in automotive service.
