The head coach is responsible for managing the overall program, including planning practices and games, overseeing team equipment, recruiting and selecting players, preparing and implementing game strategies, and promoting teamwork and sportsmanship.
Essential Duties- Compliance:
Adheres to HCPS and Virginia High School League (VHSL) regulations, including eligibility requirements and safety standards. - Team Management:
Organizes team logistics, such as transportation, equipment, uniforms, and schedules for practices and games. - Player Recruitment:
Evaluates and selects student-athletes through tryouts, assessing their skills and potential fit for the team. - Player Evaluation:
Assesses both individual and team performance throughout the season, providing constructive feedback. - Communication:
Maintains open lines of communication with athletes, parents, and school officials regarding schedules, expectations, and team updates. - Accountability:
Keeps the school athletic director (AD) informed about all aspects of the athletic program's development and management. - Assistant Coach Oversight:
Selects, trains, and evaluates assistant coaches. - Fundraising and Fiscal Management:
Organizes fundraising activities and manages the team's budget in accordance with county and district regulations and policies. - Professional Development:
Seeks opportunities for training and education to stay current on coaching strategies, techniques, and regulations.
- Demonstrated experience as a coach.
- Previous experience working with public school student-athletes.
- Extensive knowledge of the sport, with a current understanding of coaching techniques and strategies.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, effective communication abilities, and the capacity to mentor and motivate student-athletes.
- Coaches with prior college experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Minimum Stipend - $4,860.04/Season
