Job Description
The Naval Architect will help provide engineering technical and management support in studying, analyzing, and evaluating engineering problems, and developing solutions. Support will include assisting in the development of contract documentation and the development of technical plans, specifications, cost estimates relating to the various categories of engineering support services, studies provided, and associated reports.
This position will be part of a contract team to assist in the preparation of a wide range of engineering and feasibility studies, providing engineering and technical support for design review, performance feasibility studies, and designs of ships, boat, and shipboard systems in support of existing and future vessel acquisition programs.
Specific duties include;
Conduct analyses on stability studies, assist with inclining experiments and weight and stability tests, and oversee design development.Experience with computer applications relating to naval architecture and ship design.
Experience with corrosion principles of metals for surface assets and boats.
Familiarity with USN, USCG, IACS and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.
Minimum of 3 years’ progressive experience in Naval Architecture disciplines.
Experience with Navy, DoD, or U.S. Coast Guard shipbuilding programs preferred.
