Under direct supervision, performs work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team to perform procedures on patients undergoing cardiac diagnostic, cardiac interventional or electrophysiology procedures. A Brief Overview

Under direct supervision, performs work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team to perform procedures on patients undergoing cardiac diagnostic, cardiac interventional or electrophysiology procedures. Provides technical support in the diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular disease. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

What you will do
  • Under direct supervision, assists physician/surgeon during cardiovascular diagnostic, cardiac interventional or electrophysiology procedures. In rotation with the multi‑disciplinary team, performs the responsibilities of scrub, monitor, or circulate during surgical procedures.
  • Must be available for on‑call if required in designated area and respond within the designated time frame for emergency procedures.
  • Educates the patient and/or patient’s family about the procedure before, during, and after the procedure. Provides instructions about post‑procedure limitations and restrictions. Observes, evaluates, and reports changes in the patient’s condition to the RN or physician. Initiates emergency procedures and protocols as needed.
  • Administers contrast media and medications within scope of limitand consistent with medication administration practices and policies.
  • Performs variety testing to assist with diagnosis and treatment. Collects, labels, processes, stores, and transports specimens according to procedures. Performs 12‑lead ECGs, identifies cardiac rhythms, and recognizes lethal arrythmias.
  • Documents care delivered in the patient’s medical record according to policy and procedure for department.
  • Res & monitors & ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, compliance activities, and policies and procedures.
  • Provides support in prep, care, maintain, and avail of cath lab or electrophysiology lab supplies & equipment.
  • Performs other job function as assigned or requested.
Education Qualifications
  • Technical Degree or Diploma Respiratory Therapy
  • Technical Degree Cardiovascular Technology
  • Associate’s Degree Surgical Technology
  • Technical Degree or Diploma Ultrasound
  • Associate’s Degree Nursing – RN
  • Technical Degree or Diploma Nursing – LPN
  • Technical Degree or Diploma Paramedic
  • Technical Degree or Diploma Advanced Emergency Medical Technician
  • Technical Degree or Diploma Emerg Medical Tech (EMT)
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience Qualifications
  • No prior work experience
  • 1‑3 years Respiratory care
  • 7‑9 years in lieu of an Allied Health Degree or certificate, the candidate must have high school diploma or equivalent and min 7 years Cath Lab or Electrophysiology experience

Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient and certified in basic and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) or pediatric advanced life support (PALS) if working w children preferred, or certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Must demonstrate ability & desire to learn and practice clinical competencies of the Invasive Cardio Tech.
  • Ability to effectively relate and communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of workflow.
