Summary

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, YARD, Industrial Department, Electro Group, Baltimore, Maryland

Duties

Help

The employee will assist on the maintenance, repair, and installation of complete operational controls systems related to the trade and various miscellaneous manufacturing and facility projects performed at the Yard.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
  • Installing and modifying, repairing, loads and tests nonstandard industrial systems, circuits, equipment and controls.
  • Performing inspects malfunctioning parts on vessels or in the shop to determine cause of malfunction and makes necessary repairs to correct.
  • Installing or upgrading Programmable Logic Controllers and necessary (PLC) software.
  • Performing repair work and installs on the following electrical components transformers, power panels, remoted operated and regular panel circuit breakers. Works with various lighting systems throughout marine vessels
  • Working in conjunction with Electronic shop on low frequency/high frequency modulating systems ranging from satellites, vessel underwater transducers, Doppler's, fathometers, sonar, electrotechnical servo systems, pneumatic, hydraulic in antenna motors.
Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.

Qualifications

* Knowledge of electrical equipment

* Theory and Instruments (electrical, Electronic) used in shop and trade practices

* Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)

* Ability to use electrical drawings

* Ability to use and maintain hand tools (electrical work)

* Troubleshooting (electrical)
