Electrician/ Electrician Installation, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Duties
The employee will assist on the maintenance, repair, and installation of complete operational controls systems related to the trade and various miscellaneous manufacturing and facility projects performed at the Yard. Typical work assignments include:
- Installing and modifying, repairing, loads and tests nonstandard industrial systems, circuits, equipment and controls.
- Performing inspections, malfunctioning parts on vessels or in the shop to determine cause of malfunction and makes necessary repairs to correct.
- Installing or upgrading Programmable Logic Controllers and necessary PLC software.
- Performing repair work and installs on the following electrical components: transformers, power panels, remote operated and regular panel circuit breakers. Works with various lighting systems throughout marine vessels.
- Working in conjunction with Electronic shop on low frequency/high frequency modulating systems ranging from satellites, vessel underwater transducers, Doppler's, fathometers, sonar, electrotechnical servo systems, pneumatic, hydraulic in antenna motors.
Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.

QualificationsApplicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience.
- Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.
- Knowledge of electrical equipment.
- Theory and instruments (electrical, electronic) used in shop and trade practices.
- Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic).
- Ability to use electrical drawings.
- Ability to use and maintain hand tools (electrical work).
- Troubleshooting (electrical).
- National Service Experience (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) may be credited for qualified volunteer experience.
