College of DuPage invites applications for the Adjunct Faculty, Basic Police Academy Instructor (SLEA) - 2025 position.
College of DuPage believes in the power of teaching and learning. We seek adjunct faculty members to teach SLEA Basic Police Academy classes.
The successful candidate will be committed to teaching in a multicultural environment, support student success, and reflect the diversity of our student body.
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdjunct Faculty instructors are responsible for course planning and instruction in classroom, lab, or clinical settings. Courses may be conducted in various delivery modes, including face‑to‑face, online, hybrid, or blended formats. In addition, they are responsible for student evaluation and timely, accurate submission of required paperwork related to instruction.
- Develop, organize, market, and teach the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) curriculum.
- Provide classroom instruction and role‑playing experience to police recruits.
- Assist with other duties as needed.
- Experience in Law Enforcement preferred.
- Sufficient educational background and/or experience necessary to meet the instructional demands.
- Educational background may vary based on specific instructional position.
- Personal integrity and a sincere interest in imparting knowledge and experience.
- Experience developing and teaching curriculum.
- Self‑starter who works well in a team environment.
- Comfortable with public speaking.
- Cover letter demonstrating experience teaching online and/or hybrid courses and training in learner‑centered pedagogical practices.
- Ability to teach remotely with technology; access to a personal computer with appropriate technology is required.
- Stipends for course assignments.
