Clinical Support Technician – Glen Ellyn Immediate Care Center (Part‑time, Days)

Location: Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital

Salary: $20.00 – $27.00 per hour

This is a phlebotomist position located at the Immediate Care Center. The schedule requires every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and rotating holidays. The Clinical Support Technician role supports the mission of Northwestern Medicine, adheres to the Code of Ethics, and complies with all relevant policies and regulations.

• Performs waived and moderate complexity testing accurately and efficiently under the supervision of a Satellite Lab Tech, CLS, or Tech Supervisor.
• Performs diagnostic/analytic testing of specimens, interprets, documents and reports results to provider.
• Performs quality control, maintenance, troubleshoots, verifies the accuracy of all instruments.
• Performs EKG procedures for outpatient, preoperative patients and convenient care inpatients.
• Requires collaboration with main lab staff, other CC departments, nurses and providers to ensure excellent patient care.
• May require work at more than one Satellite location, holiday and weekend rotation, and sharing on‑call duty with others.
• Works in partnership with all lab personnel to ensure tests are prioritized and completed.
• Identifies and solves problems utilizing appropriate resources with assistance of supervisors and coworkers.
• Follows JCAHO National Patient Safety goals regarding patient identifiers and handwashing.
• Performs phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age‑related standards; provides post‑phlebotomy care and identifies need for medical assistance.
• Understands and performs system quality control and quality assurance procedures.
• Utilizes reagents and supplies cost‑effectively.
• Responds to customer calls professionally and courteously; reports test results accurately over the telephone.

• Required: Phlebotomy experience or recent graduate from an accredited phlebotomy program; high‑school diploma or equivalent (hard copy required); basic computer knowledge.
• Preferred: EKG experience or recent graduate from an accredited EKG program; previous laboratory experience.
