Seasonal Wildlife Interpreter Preprofessional

Supports educational programming at the DuPage Wildlife Conservation Center while gaining on the job training to complement their education.

• Assist in the development of programs and educational materials.
• Deliver interpretive programs and guided tours to visitors of all ages.
• Assist in facilitating wildlife themed activities for summer camp groups.
• Collaborate with local schools, community groups, and organizations to expand the reach of educational initiatives.
• Serve as a resource to visitors for information about wildlife, local natural history, and Conservation Center operations.
• Foster a working environment that promotes safe work habits that supports a clean, organized and hazard-free camp environment.
• Deliver excellent customer service and support a positive, team-oriented workplace.

• 18 years of age or older at time of hire.
• Valid Driver's License in good standing.
• Pursuing or recently completed a degree in education, wildlife management, biology, or a related field.
• 1 year of experience working with youth in an educational or summer camp program, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Must have and maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification or obtain upon hire.
• Must have and maintain Illinois Mandated Reporter certification or obtain upon hire.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Knowledge of local fauna and local natural history.
• Basic knowledge of wildlife care and wildlife management practices.
• Comfortable interacting with youth of varying age ranges.

• Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, though schedule will vary depending on needs.
• Expected start date is from June 2026 through August 2026.
• $17.00 to $18.00 per hour.

• Based at DuPage Wildlife Conservation Center at Willowbrook Forest Preserve.
• Requires working indoors and outdoors. Exposure to all weather conditions, wildlife including insects, birds, reptiles, and small mammals.
