School Bus Monitor at First Student

We are responsible for providing operational oversight, day‑to‑day management, and assist drivers in safe operation of routes.

Monitor/Aide Responsibilities
  • Know the route and monitor the welfare of passengers while on route.
  • Communicate behavior problems and conditions of various stops with the driver.
  • Assist in pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of the bus.
  • Assist students in the loading and unloading process.
  • Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, students, and parents.
  • Attend all safety and training meetings.
  • Conduct emergency evacuation from the bus, including use of emergency exit doors.
  • Open and close service doors and move up and down steps multiple times daily.
  • Clean the inside of the bus.
  • Assist driver when necessary to safely direct the vehicle backwards.

  • Ability to manage high degrees of stress
