Staff Accountant

$65,000-$72,000 + 10% bonus, depending on skill and experience

Glen Rock, NJ (Hybrid: 4 days in office, 1 day remote)

• Support the month-end and year-end close processes for leases, fixed assets, and royalties.
• Perform accounting and reporting for the company’s lease portfolio, fixed and variable rent, percentage rent calculations, state reporting.
• Generate rent statements to report sales and rent due to states.
• Serve as a liaison to address and resolve any state-related requests.
• Handle accounting and reporting for royalties: prepare royalty calculations for brands; generate royalty statements to report sales and royalties due to the brands; report weekly and monthly sales to brands.
• Collaborate with accounts payable to ensure timely and accurate payment of rent and royalties.
• Review monthly fixed asset invoices, categorize additions, and import them into the subledger.
• Maintain schedules for motor vehicle leases, software amortization, and franchise fee amortization, and prepare related journal entries.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for royalties, franchise fees, computer software, and motor vehicles.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting.
• 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in retail or consumer products.
• Previous experience in lease accounting and fixed assets is a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly detail-oriented with the ability to multitask effectively.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new processes and systems.
• Positive, solution-focused mindset and a “can-do” attitude.
• Excellent time management, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Strong initiative and a focus on continuous process improvement.
