Position overview:The Portfolio Manager is responsible for developing and executing the commercial strategy for a portfolio of premium wine and spirits suppliers across the Opici Family Distributing selling markets. This role serves as the primary business owner for assigned brands, partnering with suppliers, sales leadership, marketing, finance, pricing, and operations to drive profitable growth. This is an onsite role in Glen Rock, NJ
Success in this position requires strong commercial acumen, financial analysis, strategic planning, supplier relationship management, and the ability to translate business strategy into market execution.
This role is ideal for an analytical, collaborative leader who enjoys influencing cross-functional teams while managing a diverse portfolio of nationally and internationally recognized brands.
Portfolio Management:- Own the commercial performance of assigned supplier portfolios.
- Develop annual business plans including revenue, depletion, distribution, margin and profitability objectives.
- Monitor performance against plan and recommend corrective actions.
- Analyze market trends, competitive activity and consumer insights to identify growth opportunities.
- Serve as the primary day-to-day business contact for assigned suppliers.
- Build strong strategic relationships through regular business reviews and planning sessions.
- Coordinate supplier visits, market work-withs and annual planning meetings.
- Present performance updates and recommendations to supplier partners.
- Develop annual sales priorities and execution plans.
- Partner with field sales leadership to ensure successful implementation.
- Create incentive programs, sales initiatives and market activation strategies.
- Monitor execution and provide ongoing communication to the sales organization.
- Manage monthly pricing submissions and ensure accuracy.
- Monitor profitability, pricing strategy and margin performance.
- Develop sales forecasts and financial projections.
- Analyze business performance using internal reporting systems and syndicated data.
- Partner closely with Sales Leadership, Commercial Finance & Pricing, Operations, Purchasing, Finance, and Supplier Partners to ensure alignment across commercial initiatives.
- Develop meaningful reporting and dashboards.
- Identify risks and opportunities through data analysis.
- Present actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Finance or related field preferred.
- 5–10 years of experience in beverage alcohol, CPG, wholesale distribution or related commercial business management.
- Experience managing supplier relationships preferred.
- Strong financial and analytical capabilities.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
