Overview
A Production Manager is a key player in the manufacturing processes and is responsible for overseeing the entire production process of their department(s). This encompasses the output of the process as well as the ability to meet production schedules. The production manager will work closely with other departments, such as quality, equipment maintenance, engineering and supply chain management to ensure efficient and effective production.
The incumbent is responsible to implement the company defined apprentice and other required training and developmental plans. The production manager must have SOLID SCREW MACHINING experience, strong leadership skills, be able to motivate and manage teams effectively, and have excellent problem-solving capabilities.
- Provide expert technical support and training for ACME screw machining process.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Oversee the production processes and shift-to-shift performance.
- Standardize best practices, implementing LEAN/A3 Problem Solving/5-S/TPS/VSM strategies where applicable.
- Develop and implement plans to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Manage the production workforce from a time and attendance standpoint with respect to our policy.
- Assist planner in scheduling and coordinate production activities to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Identify and resolve production-related problems promptly.
- Ensure the quality of the end product meets customer expectations.
- Analyze current methods of production to understand and define data collection for tracking and trending.
- Develop new, and implement existing, improvements to processes with measurable results in Quality, Efficiency, Safety and Cost.
- Develop/Update SOPs/Work instructions for current/future projects/programs.
- Utilize 8-D/Ishikawa/Fishbone methods for root cause analysis, error-proofing, and corrective action implementation.
- Maintain safe and healthy work environment by ensuring policies and procedures are followed.
- Champion department apprenticeship program for long-term machinist success.
- Develop manufacturing processes and sequence of production operations from blueprints, quality documents, specifications and purchase orders.
- Create processing routings in the ERP system, convert prints to KKSP standard and upload all supporting technical documents.
- Review existing process routers for accuracy.
- Responsible for all part revision changes.
- Assist in design solutions, as needed, for both cutting tools and work holding.
- Support manufacturing and the PMO in the New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
- Coordination and implementation of capital projects for maintenance and growth initiatives.
- SOLID SCREW MACHINING experience.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience working with quality, equipment maintenance, engineering and supply chain management.
- Knowledge of LEAN/A3 Problem Solving/5-S/TPS/VSM concepts and their application.
- Experience developing and updating SOPs/Work Instructions.
- Ability to analyze production methods, collect data, and track trends.
- Experience with ERP systems and creating processing routings.
