Job Description

Step into a dynamic, supportive school environment serving 3rd-5th grade students by covering a social work leave this spring semester. As an onsite school social worker, you will collaborate closely with educators and support staff to ensure the well-being and success of students with IEPs, 504 plans, and social work service minutes.

Your expertise will support a diverse caseload at the elementary level, including 12 general education, 6 instructional, and 3 structured students with IEPs, along with managing 11 students who have 504 plans. While not every 504 student requires ongoing social work minutes, your ability to identify and address individual needs will be key. This contract role spans early February through mid-April, providing an opportunity to make a meaningful impact during a critical time in the school year.

Desired

Skills and Experience
  • Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Social Worker endorsement (required)
  • Previous school-based social work experience (elementary level strongly preferred)
  • Familiarity with Embrace (for IEP management) and My Service Tracker  (for Medicaid billing), or willingness to learn
  • Experience supporting students with IEPs, 504 plans, and varying academic and social-emotional needs
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teaching staff, administration, and families
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct and indirect social work services per IEPs and student plans
  • Manage and monitor progress for students with IEPs and 504 plans
  • Document services, interventions, and observations accurately within district-approved systems
  • Participate in IEP and 504 meetings as needed
  • Serve as a resource for staff and families to facilitate positive student outcomes
