Unical is looking for an experienced detail-orientated Senior Accountant to join our team. As part of the Finance organization, the Senior Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the business by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with financial reporting and ensuring compliant with internal controls to protect the company’s assets. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting standards and principles while also being a self-starter who’s flexible and can thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Duties & Responsibilities- Manage full cycle accounting process for assigned areas including the preparation and recording of journal entries, reconciliations and financial statement review.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations while able to identify & correct reconciling items promptly.
- Analyze financial data to ensure transaction recording accurate, while proactively identifying areas for improvement.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure correct accounting for business activities.
- Analyze and explain monthly, quarterly and annual balance sheet and income statement fluctuations.
- Research technical accounting issues and implementing relevant standards and frameworks as needed.
- Work closely with A/R and A/P teams to ensure account balances accurate.
- Review financial statements for accuracy and completeness while maintaining accounting policy compliance.
- Assist in implementing, oversight and compliance with Company’s SOX procedures and internal controls.
- Support interim and year-end audits by coordinating with external auditors and internal partners, providing necessary documentation.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports and providing insights to management as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 5 years plus of accounting experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
- Strong US GAAP knowledge
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytic and problem solving skills
- Ability to implement and improve current policies
- Excellent written, verbal, and social communication skills
- Ability to deliver effective ad hoc reporting, analysis, and presentations
- Highly motivated, self-start with proven ability to thrive under pressure and meet aggressive deadlines
- High level of integrity and work ethic
- Demonstrate ability to resolve accounting concerns
- Ability to work effectively and independently in a dynamic environment
- Ability to execute and follow through to completion and documentation
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy
- CPA preferred
- Mix of public and industry experience preferred
- Big 4 experience is a plus
- Aviation experience is a plus
- Experience working with ERP system, Quantum a plus
