Midwestern University’s Dental Institute is seeking applicants for a full-time or part-time faculty position in our Oral Surgery clinic. The applicant should be a board-eligible/certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. This position will support the institute’s clinical, academic, and research programs. The applicant must be willing to participate in the education of pre-doctoral students and be proficient in surgical treatments within the scope of an Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon, including dentoalveolar procedures, bone grafting, dental implants, soft tissue grafting, and benign pathology management.

Familiarity with software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and dental implant planning software is required.

Candidates must have earned a DDS/DMD degree, a specialty degree, and demonstrate scholarly activity in their field. A minimum of three years’ experience in private practice or an academic health center is required. Licensure in Arizona, including DEA, anesthesia permits, and the ability to obtain an AZ dental license, are necessary. The candidate should have leadership experience in clinical dentistry and be committed to student education and empowerment.

Reporting to the Assistant/Associate Dean for Clinical Sciences, the faculty member will:

  • Become proficient in axiUm clinical management system
  • Maintain an open-door policy for student assistance
  • Create a welcoming environment to foster morale and collegiality
  • Serve as a positive role model
  • Manage patient care continuity
  • Assist students with patient care and demonstrate clinical procedures
  • Supervise students and ensure safety and quality in patient care
  • Provide technical guidance and evaluate student performance
  • Manage supplies, equipment, and reports
  • Coordinate professionalism and clinical skills education
  • Perform other duties as assigned and meet regularly with the Dean
