This adjunct faculty position will provide weekly instruction for the Health and Wellness Coaching certificate program. The teaching curriculum includes training for the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC). This position will utilize in-person and/or live on-line classroom instruction.
Essential Functions- Instructs and supervises a diverse population of students in classroom and online settings.
- Delivers instruction in alignment with the coaching competencies developed and overseen by the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC).
- Develops written syllabi/course outlines, point distribution and grading standards, and course materials commensurate with others teaching the same courses and with college standards.
- Uses learning management system (Canvas) to communicate important information to students (e.g., scores, announcements, calendar) as well as a vehicle to improve student access to instructional resources.
- Prepares and grades written exams, quizzes, and other assignments aligned with course competencies and level of expectation common to all faculty teaching that course and submits final grade for each student to the college records office.
- Monitors students' academic progress. Seeks ways to connect with "at risk" students and identify (and provide, whenever possible) relevant supports/resources to increase the probability of their long‑term success.
- Participates in course level assessment and uses results as a monitoring tool for the continuous improvement of students' academic success; prepares assessment reports for the department Assessment Coordinator.
- Is available outside of class meeting time to assist individuals and small groups with their questions/concerns (e.g., before or after class office hours, via email, via video conferencing).
- Works with program coordinator, department staff and other faculty teaching the same course to revise content, activities, instructional materials/technology, and pedagogical strategies to keep course current as well as improve student retention and achievement.
- Remains current with developments in health and wellness coaching through reading of professional journals, participation and/or presentations at conferences, courses, seminars, and/or workshops, and/or other professional development activities.
- Meets deadlines established by department and college including those related to student attendance and withdrawal and submission of official rosters and grades.
- Abides by district's Administrative Regulations, Federal, state and college policies.
- Attends/completes required college/district meetings, training sessions, acknowledgments and disclosures.
- NBHWC Certified Health & Wellness Coach
- Master's Degree in Health-Related Field
- 200 hours of Health and Wellness Coaching
- Experience teaching health and wellness related courses at a college, university or educational setting.
