Job Summary

The LPN Faculty position is responsible for coordination, instructing, planning, assessing and evaluating students in didactic, lab, and clinical settings, in remote and face-to-face environments, and in classroom, simulation and clinical settings for all topics encompassing the LPN curriculum. The work schedule varies but may include teaching on weekends and/or evenings. Performs all other duties as directed by the Nursing Department Chair, Dean of Instruction, or College President or designee.

Functions
  • Coordinates, oversees and instructs students in classroom, clinical, and/or lab setting
  • Assesses skills mastery of students
  • Develops written syllabi/course outlines and course materials
  • Evaluates student learning through formative and summative assessment
  • Prepares and grades exams and other measures of assessment
  • Develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, and/or workshops
  • Maintains office hours to assist and advise students
  • Engages in the academic life of the college by participating in District wide and campus committees, including accreditation
Minimum Qualifications

To teach in the practical nursing program:
You will need a minimum of two years’ experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care, and a minimum of a baccalaureate degree with a major in nursing. Must have a valid, unrestricted Registered Nurse license. Letter from employer(s) validating two years of registered nursing experience.

Desired Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Nursing degree
  • Professional certification, preferably nursing education, or in a related nursing area or general education
  • Two or more years as a professional nurse providing direct patient care in a medical/surgical or long-term care/related setting
  • Two or more years of experience in classroom instruction, at least one of which is Nursing
  • Two or more years of clinical instruction of nursing students, at least one of which is CNA or LPN students
  • Experience with simulation technology that facilitate nursing education
  • Leadership experience in a hospital, educational, community or voluntary organizations
