THIS POSITION BEGINS AUGUST 14, 2026. Provides instruction and conducts classes in the area of physics. The candidate should be able to teach introductory and college-level physics courses, including their respective labs. The candidate must have competence in the laboratory environment and the ability to provide students with a meaningful laboratory experience. The candidate is required to participate in departmental, college, and district committees, as well as in professional development activities.
EssentialFunctions
Oversee and instruct introductory physics courses to students in a classroom and/or lab setting. Develop written syllabi/course outlines and course materials. Evaluate subject‑matter knowledge and monitor students’ scholastic records and assess student learning for success. Prepare and grade exams. Develop and enhance knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field.
Promote the scholarship of teaching and learning through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, and/or workshops. Maintain office hours to assist and advise students. Engage in the academic life of the college by participating in District‑wide and College committees.
- A graduate degree is required. A faculty may qualify with any of the following:
Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field OR Master’s degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching field. - Any course containing “Physics” in its title, Physical Science, Circuits, Mechanics, Condensed Matter, Astronomy, Cosmology, Electrodynamics, Electrostatics, Fluids, Gravity, Interference, Magnetism, Material Science, Optics, Nanotechnology, Dynamics, Quantum Mechanics, Relativity, Sound, Spectroscopy, Thermodynamics, Waves, or IC discretion.
- Experience in teaching physics lecture/lab courses at the college/university level.
- Experience teaching Physics in a traditional in‑person classroom.
- Experience teaching Physics in an online delivery format.
