Plant Quality Manager – Corning Incorporated

The Plant Quality Manager leads a strong quality culture across the plant, ensuring product integrity, regulatory compliance, and alignment with AMPS standards. The role drives continuous improvement in product and service quality using robust systems, Lean and DMAIC methodologies, and key performance metrics. As a member of the Plant Staff, the PQM shares responsibility for overall plant performance in quality, safety, service, and continuous improvement, while providing leadership and coaching to the quality team.
Key Responsibilities- Establish, communicate, and execute the quality strategy and roadmap, supporting manufacturing strategy and corporate quality direction.
- Champion product quality architecture to prevent and detect quality issues for purchased materials and manufactured goods, covering form, fit, function, safety and regulatory compliance.
- Implement and refine built‑in quality control plans, developing control strategies that ensure the product meets quality targets and applying error‑proofing techniques.
- Champion performance excellence methods, ensuring continuous improvement is evident from product concept to delivery.
- Provide coaching and facilitation of methods and tools for establishing metrics.
- Provide leadership for quality management systems to ensure systems are effective and aligned with customer expectations, corporate requirements, industry-specific standards, regulatory and statutory requirements.
- Handle expectations for validation of new products and processes or validation of changes to existing products and processes as they may affect form, fit, function, or regulatory compliance.
- Ensure that suppliers provide the highest quality materials ready for use.
- Coordinate and lead plant audits and represent the plant professionally to customers.
- Report on quality department metrics to plant and business leadership, leading roadmaps for implementation or improvement of key elements.
- Collaborate with Commercial, Technology, Engineering and other functional groups to achieve outcomes across the enterprise.
- Assure growth in talent and capability of quality staff, including self‑development.
- Oversee functional responsibilities in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, and/or Quality Systems.
- Build an effective network with Engineering, Operations, Commercial, Division Quality, Global Supply Management, and Regulatory Affairs.
- Participate in establishing the annual plant budget and managing department budgets.
- Advocate quality practices and requirements to all departments and functions.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 6+ years in a manufacturing environment with experience in PCPD, utilizing quality systems and data analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to lead a diverse group and influence at all levels.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills in a manufacturing environment.
- Progressive leadership responsibilities in quality, operations or engineering department supervision.
- Experience leading teams and departments in meeting continuous improvement goals and performance improvements.
- Experience coordinating activities across functional responsibilities and collaborating with other groups.
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis software such as Excel, Mini Tab, PI, Access, etc.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven equipment engineering, design, and/or maintenance experience.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.

- Budget management experience.
- Experience in solar module or wafer manufacturing.
- Experience in glass manufacturing.
- Experience in clean‑room manufacturing environments.
- Green Belt certification.
