The RoleWater Services System Technician – Water Distribution performs skilled and semi‑skilled construction, maintenance, and repair work on the City of Glendale's water distribution network.
Duties include installing, testing, maintaining, and repairing water mains, sewer mains, services valves, fire hydrants, manholes, and stormwater facilities.
This position will be open until filled; applicants will be reviewed as they are received.
SalaryFLSA non‑exempt, overtime for hours over 40 per week.
A Grade 312 with an hourly salary between $22.64 and $33.96.
Additionally, this position offers a $2,000 hiring bonus: $1,000 after 30 days and $1,000 after 6 months of employment. Current City employees are not eligible.

- 10.5 paid holidays per year plus 12 hours of holiday special leave per calendar year for cultural or religious holidays.
- Vacation leave accrues at
- 5.33 hours per pay period (138 hours per year)
- Increases to 6.12 hours after 5 years
- Caps at 7.6 hours after 10 years
- Sick leave accrues at 4.4 hours per pay period (114 hours per year).
This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Current contribution rate is 12.00% of pay, deducted every pay period.

Responsibilities- Perform skilled and semi‑skilled construction, maintenance, and repair work.
- Operate various light, medium, and heavy equipment including 3‑ton utility truck, backhoe, dump truck, utility crane truck, and hydro‑excavation equipment.
- Use power and hand tools to accomplish tasks.
- Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain daily work records; perform computerized data entry.
- Transport and set up supplies and equipment; perform safety checks.
- Install, test, maintain, and repair water mains, sewer mains, services valves, fire hydrants, manholes and stormwater facilities.
- Tap water mains and install services and water meters.
- Test, repair, maintain, replace, and relocate existing water meters.
- Perform water turn off/on for scheduled maintenance and emergencies.
- Respond to and resolve water complaints.
- Install, pull, relocate, test, repair, assemble, and read water meters.
- Construct and maintain large meter vaults and manholes.
- Excavate job sites and restore them to pre‑work conditions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Two years of experience in construction, wet and dry excavation, equipment maintenance, and operation of light, medium, and heavy equipment such as hand tools, jackhammer, rammer, 3‑ton utility truck, backhoe, dump truck, utility crane truck, and hydro‑excavation equipment.
Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. One year of relevant experience may substitute for each year of required education.
Knowledge of- Rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to the assignment area.
- Materials, tools, equipment, safety hazards, and precautions common to responsibilities.
- Confined space entry procedures.
- Blue stake laws and underground utility identification practices.
