The City of Glendale is seeking a full-time City Engineer. The City of Glendale is dedicated to pursuing top candidates to join our team. We are searching for a highly skilled Information Systems Manager responsible for providing professional engineering services related to planning, design, construction, review and oversight of the City’s buildings and physical infrastructure. Performs a variety of routine and complex assignments including administrative, skilled, technical, and supervisory while operating, maintaining, and repairing of the City’s collection and distribution systems, streets, parks, vehicles, generators, equipment and City buildings.
Perform professional and technical work in conjunction with the Public Works and Building Departments for the City of Glendale. Candidates must have strong organizational skills, the ability to learn quickly in a fast-moving environment, strong communication and computer skills, and detail oriented. The typical schedule is in-person during normal business hours – 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, five days per week
- Monday through Friday. Demonstrated technical skills to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined above and in general, using engineering practices as related to municipal engineering. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Architecture (Building) Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university, registration as a Professional Engineer in Colorado, and 2 to 5 years’ experience in municipal or related engineering is preferred.

GENERAL
PURPOSE:
To provide professional engineering services related to the planning, design, construction, review and oversight of the City’s buildings and physical infrastructure. Performs a variety of routine and complex assignments including administrative, skilled, technical, and supervisory while operating, maintaining, and repairing of the City’s collection and distribution systems, streets, parks, vehicles, generators, equipment and City buildings. Performs professional and technical work in conjunction with the Public Works and Building Departments for the City of Glendale.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general supervision of the Public Works Director, City Manager, and their designee(s).
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Exercises supervision either directly or through first-level supervisors over public works staff and building department staff as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure efficient operation of engineering.
- Maintains a close working relationship with Director of Public Works, City Manager, Fire Marshal, department heads, and staff.
- Manages special projects as directed by Director of Public Works, including Cherry Creek corridor restoration projects, park and trail development, water system development, sanitary system development, transportation system development, stormwater system development and water quality preservation and improvement.
