Activities Assistant
Golden Haven Care Center (formerly Glen Oaks) – Glendale, CA
Shift: Part Time
Come join our dedicated and compassionate team at Golden Haven Care Center! We are seeking an Activities Assistant to help enrich the lives of our residents through meaningful social, recreational, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual programs.
Position SummaryThe Activities Assistant supports the planning, implementation, and evaluation of activity programs based on each resident’s needs, interests, and assessments in a skilled nursing setting.
CNA License Preferred
Shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday (8:30am - 5:00pm)
Key Responsibilities- Uphold the company’s mission, values, and ethical standards.
- Maintain a professional, positive attitude and promote teamwork.
- Ensure residents are always treated with dignity, respect, and kindness.
- Protect residents’ personal and property rights; knock before entering rooms.
- Follow all company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Assist with or lead group and one‑on‑one activity programs.
- Prepare and organize activity spaces, equipment, and materials.
- Help transport residents to and from activity areas.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and welcoming activity environment.
- Assist with developing activity schedules and distributing monthly calendars; post updates as required by regulations.
- Complete documentation accurately and in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Observe and report residents’ participation, mood, behavior, and responses to activities.
- Visit and support residents who are room‑bound; assist with small tasks such as letter writing or errands.
- Provide or request adaptive materials to ensure inclusive participation.
- Plan movies, parties, games, and hobby‑related opportunities.
- Encourage participation in religious activities as desired by residents.
- Participate in resident/family meetings and discharge planning as needed.
- Report incidents, grievances, hazards, or suspected non‑compliance per facility procedures.
- Follow HIPAA, infection control, universal precautions, OSHA, and all safety standards.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area.
- Attend required trainings, orientations, and in‑services.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and best practices.
- Assist with departmental projects, studies, and administrative tasks.
- Coordinate with facility consultants and implement recommendations as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- 1–2 years of related experience; healthcare setting preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Aptitude or training in arts and crafts
- Bilingual ability strongly preferred
- CNA license preferred
