Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the PACE Medical Director provides general medical direction and supervision of the medical aspects of care for VCC PACE Program. The Medical Director is responsible for the delivery of participant care, clinical outcomes, and for the implementation, as well as oversight, of the quality assessment and performance improvement program. Engages and guides Quality Assurance Manager to participate in data analysis, implement quality improvement initiatives, and follow through with assigned performance improvement processes.

Provides direction and supervision to all primary care providers and contracted specialists. Ensures the quality of related primary care, nursing, and allied health services. The Medical Director is responsible for the development and maintenance of medical policies and procedures/standards and protocols. Ensures compliance with State, Federal, and local regulations associated with PACE program requirements, and including Clinic Licensure, HIPAA, and Fraud Waste and Abuse.

Qualifications


Education

Medical Doctor with emphasis in geriatrics. Board certified in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, or Geriatric practice desired. Current state license and DEA registration required. Meets requirements for 42 CRF Part 410.20.


Experience

Must have a minimum of one year’s experience working with a frail or elderly population. Demonstrated skills in administration/management, program development, communications, internal/external relations, problem solving, required. Minimum of three years management experience is required. Shall have either training or related experience in the job assigned.


Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of current concepts, theories and practices related to home and community-based care for the elderly and disabled adults.
  • Knowledge of the requirements for providing the type of care and supervision needed by participants, including the ability to communicate with such participants.
  • Ability to establish a facility’s policies, programs and budget.
  • Working knowledge of health care delivery and financing systems, including Medi-Cal, Medicare, waiver programs, prospective and capitated systems, public health programs and HMO/Managed Care.
  • Working knowledge of the PACE regulations desired.
  • Thorough knowledge of physical, mental and social needs of frail older adults.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and work within the interdisciplinary setting.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to recruit, employ, train and evaluate qualified staff, and to terminate employment of staff.
  • Able to manage changing priorities per needs of the PACE program and the agency.

Pay Range

  • $330,000 - $390,000 Depending On Experience
