Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Mold Maker to support the design, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of high-precision molds used in aerospace and defense applications. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, a strong understanding of tight-tolerance tooling, and a commitment to quality and compliance in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Build, modify, repair, and maintain injection molds to extremely tight tolerances.
- Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications.
- Perform precision machining using CNC and manual equipment (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM).
- Troubleshoot mold performance issues and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure mold readiness and performance.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure mold longevity and reliability.
- Ensure all work complies with aerospace and defense quality standards (AS9100, ISO, etc.).
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow configuration control procedures.
- 5+ years of experience as an Injection Molding Mold Maker (aerospace or medical preferred).
- Strong knowledge of mold construction, hot runner systems, and high-cavitation tooling.
- Proficiency in precision machining and toolroom practices.
- Ability to read GD&T and complex engineering drawings.
- Experience working with hardened steels, aluminum, and specialty alloys.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- High level of attention to detail and quality.
- Experience in aerospace and/or defense manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with AS9100 or other regulated quality systems.
- CNC programming experience (Mastercam or similar).
- Tooling design experience or strong DFM knowledge.
