Job SummaryWe re looking for a young motivated and mechanically inclined Tool and Die Maker Apprentices to join our tooling team specializing in progressive die manufacturing
. This paid apprenticeship is a great opportunity to learn from experienced journey persons while gaining the technical skills needed to become a certified Tool and Die Maker.
- Assist in the build, assembly, maintenance, and repair of progressive dies.
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and process sheets.
- Perform precision machining using manual and CNC mills, lathes, surface grinders, and EDM.
- Learn die components, die timing, strip layout concepts, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Assist with press tryouts and die debugging.
- Measure and inspect parts using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators).
- Follow shop safety procedures and quality standards.
- High school diploma or GED (required).
- Strong math and mechanical aptitude.
- A committed and motivated individual.
- Eagerness to learn and work with your hands.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous shop or technical experience is a plus, but not required.
- Enrollment in or completion of a manufacturing, machining, or tool & die technical program.
- Basic machining experience (manual or CNC).
- Familiarity with metal stamping or press operations.
- Experience with hand tools and shop equipment.
- Duration: Typically 4 years.
- Combination of: On-the-job training and classroom instruction.
- Certification: Completion leads to a journeyperson Tool and Die Maker status (depending on local/state/provincial requirements).
