* Job Description:
** The Director of Nursing (DON) provides strategic and operational leadership for nursing services, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care in compliance with California regulations and professional nursing standards. Reporting to the Chief of Pharmacy and Infusion Services, the Director of Nursing collaborates closely with interdisciplinary leadership to align nursing practice with clinical, operational, and organizational goals. This role provides direct oversight of Nurse Managers and Charge Nurses.
The Director of Nursing will lead clinical operations with a focus on implementing and maintaining acuity-based staffing models to ensure appropriate nurse-to-patient assignments that support high-quality care, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.

* Essential Functions:

** Provides leadership and direction for all nursing operations, including oversight of Nurse Managers and Charge Nurses.
* Develop and oversee acuity-based staffing and scheduling models to ensure appropriate nurse-to-patient assignments based on patient complexity, census, and care needs.
* Monitor staffing trends, overtime, productivity, and skill mix; implement strategies to optimize staffing effectiveness and staff satisfaction.
* Support recruitment, onboarding, retention, and professional development of nursing staff.
* Oversee nursing quality metrics, patient outcomes, and performance improvement initiatives.
* Participate in audits, surveys, and accreditation activities; address findings with corrective action plans as needed.
* Directly supervise and mentor Nurse Managers; support Charge Nurses in daily operations and leadership development.
* Foster effective communications and collaboration across nursing, pharmacy, and interdisciplinary teams.
* Support implementation of new programs, workflows, and clinical initiatives impacting nursing services.
* Contribute to strategic planning initiatives related to nursing services, growth, and service line development.
* Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements related to nursing services.
* Assesses the quality of care rendered and makes recommendations for change as needed.
* Initiates the development of policies and procedures that govern nursing services and other services under their role.
* Responsible for collaborating with other departments and agencies regarding resources and services for improved patient care and staff development.
* Manage chemotherapy Inventory of Medications.
* Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge.
* Prepares reports pertaining to the Department of Nursing.
* Must be willing to work closely with other management members to create a positive working environment conducive to productivity and efficiency.
* Ensure staffing decisions are driven by patient acuity, census data, and clinical complexity.
* Lead training and education for nurse managers on accurate acuity scoring, workload management, and evidence-based staffing practices.
