Police Services Officer Trainee

open examination - note: this recruitment for police services officer trainee is an unclassified, non-civil service, at-will full time position. While employed, the individual appointed will receive the same salary, benefits and leave accruals as comparable salaried classified employees.

this non-sworn trainee classification works under close supervision participating in training work leading to progressively responsible tasks in several areas of the police department, including, but not limited to parking/traffic enforcement and investigative services. The current vacancy for this position is in parking enforcement.

this position reports to police services supervisors or other police supervisors or managers, depending on assignment.

education: high school diploma or equivalent.

experience (desirable): experience working in a public safety agency.

transportation: valid class c california driver’s license.

background investigation: a comprehensive background investigation will be conducted on all finalists, which will review and verify personal history including, but not limited to, financial responsibility, criminal history, drug use history, driving record, and verification of application materials. Significant issues or omissions in the above-stated areas may be grounds for disqualification. Background investigations will include livescan fingerprinting and a polygraph.
