Role Description

Aug Prep North is seeking a passionate and visionary Music Teacher to build and grow a vibrant, developmentally aligned K4–9 music program. This educator will introduce students to the joy of music-making, foundational musical concepts, and creative expression, while laying the groundwork for future choral or strings/orchestra programs in middle and high school.

In This Role, You Will:

Academics

  • Develop and teach a cohesive K4–5 general music curriculum that inspires curiosity and joy through singing, movement, rhythm, and instrumental exploration.
  • Build and grow either a 6th-grade choir program focused on healthy vocal technique, ensemble skills, and developing confidence and joy in group music‑making, or a 6th-grade strings/orchestra program introducing students to string instruments, ensemble playing, and foundational orchestral skills.
  • Establish a 9th-grade choir or strings/orchestra program that will anchor a growing secondary music program, support the long‑term vision for a vibrant music program.
  • Engage young learners using Orff, Kodály, Dalcroze, or similar methodologies, emphasizing creativity, play, and foundational musicianship.
  • Teach and inspire students in a way that nurtures musical skill development, expression, and lifelong appreciation for music.
  • Build musical literacy by teaching students to listen, perform, compose, and respond to a variety of musical styles and traditions.
  • Introduce students to a variety of age‑appropriate instruments, vocal practices, and musical experiences.
  • Design and lead grade‑level musical performances and celebrations that showcase student growth, musicianship, and confidence.
