Welder – T31 Frigate Programme

Location: Rosyth, Scotland

Rate: £27.02 per hour (Umbrella ONLY)

Duration: Minimum 6 months (long‑term work expected)

Positions Available: 5 Welders

Job Description

The T31 Frigate programme in Rosyth is seeking 5 skilled Welders to support the construction and outfitting of new naval vessels. This role involves working as part of a large, multidisciplinary shipbuilding team, contributing to the fabrication, assembly, and installation of structural and mechanical components across the frigates.

Welders will carry out high‑quality welding on a variety of materials and thicknesses, ensuring all work meets strict marine, engineering, and safety standards. Duties include welding structural steel sections, bulkheads, pipework supports, and fabricated assemblies within workshops and onboard the vessels during build and fit‑out stages. Work will be completed in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and approved welding procedures.

A key part of the role will involve FCAW welding in the 6G position
, working to tight tolerances and quality requirements typical of naval shipbuilding projects.

The initial contract is 6 months; however this is a long‑term programme and it is common for trade workers to remain on site well beyond the initial term.

Requirements
  • Proven experience in marine, shipbuilding, or heavy engineering environments
  • FCAW welding experience, including 6G position

    Strong focus on quality, safety, and teamwork
  • Must be able to pass a Scottish criminal record check (mandatory)
