Adjunct Faculty, ESL – Colorado Mountain College

This role assists students in their learning process by utilizing appropriate staff resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies. Faculty are expected to facilitate learning throughout the community and serve learners through teaching, scholarly endeavors, and service activities.

Core Responsibilities
  • Teach courses as assigned, prepare lesson plans, and develop course outlines and syllabi.
  • Evaluate courses and assess student learning, meeting established course, program, and learning outcomes.
  • Maintain office hours, develop rapport with students, assist with advising, orientation, and registration activities.
  • Engage in scholarly and creative activities that enhance discipline expertise.
  • Participate in campus and college committees, mentor peers, and assist with assessment activities and program review.
  • Recruit students as appropriate and assist in the evaluation of curriculum and instructional performance.
  • Represent the college professionally, promoting a positive public image.
  • Engage in professional development as required for credentialing.
Qualifications

Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in the specific program or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include:

  • Minimum of a master’s degree or equivalent in a related field with at least 18 graduate credits.
  • At least one year of full‑time teaching experience, or equivalent as an adjunct instructor. Higher education teaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of pedagogy, strong background in computers and technology, excellent organizational and office skills, effective communication and interpersonal skills, willingness to learn, and ability to conduct research and analyze data.
  • Ability to work independently toward established goals and deadlines.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.

Working Conditions

This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing, and driving; occasional handling of objects up to 50 lbs. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally. May require travel and evening/weekend hours.

Supervision

The position reports to the Assistant Dean of Instruction or designee. The incumbent may supervise student employees.

Employment Details

Entry level, Part‑time. The salary range is $20.00–$60.00.
