Primary Responsibility:
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Business Services and coordinating closely with the Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives, the Grants Accountant supports pre‑ and post‑award budget and management processes for grants, contracts and special funds. Applies generally accepted accounting principles and procedures and serves as a college‑wide resource for general ledger and budget system issues, assisting Grant Program Managers with grant accounting, and working with the Grants Manager to monitor federal and other large college‑wide grants.
Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position. Examples may include a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and five years of accounting experience or equivalent education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the functions of the position.
Special Skills or abilities related to position:
Workday proficiency preferred. Knowledge of acceptable accounting principles; process and budget management; grants knowledge; strong written, verbal, analytical, and organizational skills; experience with standard Microsoft Office software products, especially Excel.

Compensation and BenefitsHiring range: $75,149.07 - $83,498.97 annual salary depending upon a combination of education and experience. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Pet insurance, retirement contribution, tuition reimbursement, annual & sick time, mental health resources, healthy lifestyle benefits, affordable transitional housing may be available to the successful candidate based on eligibility and availability, relocation if applicable. Salary will be set commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.

Minimum QualificationsEssential Duties:
- Assist in grant management for pre‑ and post‑awards including establishment of accounts in the financial accounting system, and ensuring budgets are set up properly, allowable costs are understood, cost‑sharing requirements are fulfilled, and re‑budgeting of funds is completed when necessary.
- Support the Strategic Initiatives Department and work closely with Grant Program Managers to aid in their budget and finance reporting, analysis, and compliance; and create effective support tools as needed.
- Provide technical assistance with preparation of the College’s annual budget, specifically with regard to Sponsored Funds.
- Serve as the Accountant for designated federal and other large college‑wide grants as needed.
- Monitor expenditures to evaluate whether they are allowable within the terms of the grant or contract while also verifying other critical aspects, such as sufficient funds, appropriate authorization, subcontract activity, etc.
- Review, monitor and approve all grant‑related payroll activity. Prepare adjusting journal entries as needed.
- Support the Grant Manager to reconcile grant activity on a monthly basis by comparing internal records in Excel, the Workday Grants Module, and the Workday General Ledger.
- Provide support to Grant Manager to prepare quarterly, annual, and closeout reports for funding agencies as requested.
- Assist with closing grants in Workday when applicable.
- Accurately prepare the annual Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards in compliance with annual audit requirements.
