The University of Arizona Cooperative Extension, Gila County is seeking an exceptional individual to support the 4-H Youth Development program as a Program Coordinator primarily in the southern Gila County area; this may also include some work in San Carlos, Payson, Young, Tonto Basin, and beyond. As Program Coordinator, they will create opportunities for youth to engage in evidence‑based learning in schools or group settings and encourage youth to participate in local 4-H clubs and events.

The program coordinator will help build relationships with schools and community organizations, and lead interactive lessons in agriculture, health, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) and civic engagement so youth can find their “spark” and discover new career possibilities.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Good communication and organizational skills are essential as the position requires detailed record keeping, completing data reports, managing a curriculum library, and the ability to consistently meet deadlines. The Program Coordinator will be instrumental in planning and organizing curriculum materials for 4-H youth development lessons throughout Gila County as well as leading hands‑on, experiential learning activities for students (primary through high school age).

    This includes, creating outreach materials, distributing the material, delivering programs or organizing the delivery of programs, and collecting data. Some travel is required with mileage reimbursement as well as working some weekends/evenings.
  • Will establish and maintain partnerships with local schools, youth‑focused organizations, businesses, and government agencies. This includes coordinating with partners to provide interactive lessons, distributing curriculum kits, and assisting with 4-H membership enrollment and recruitment.
  • Oversees volunteer programs for the institution, as well as sources and coordinates volunteers. Develops strategies to increase volunteer involvement opportunities and participation. Responsible for assisting with ZSuites and other system tracking.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience required.
