CASE MANAGER-CHILD SAFETY SPECIALIST

Responsibilities- Respond to reported allegations of child abuse and/or neglect.
- Assess child safety and risk.
- Conduct interviews and gather information.
- Make in- and out-of-home contacts with families and children.
- Attend court hearings.
- Prepare case plans and conduct case plan staffing.
- Author professional reports and complete documentation.
- Coordinate and monitor services.
- Place children, transport them, and move children’s possessions when needed.
- Manage cases throughout the assigned county and area.
- Use the Department’s Child Welfare Software Programs.
- Alternate work hours may be required, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Knowledge of confidentiality principles, behavior modification, conflict resolution, counseling principles, intervention techniques, interviewing procedures, child development, family systems, family-centered practice, behavioral indicators of mental health disturbance, impact of abuse and neglect, separation and loss issues, and child welfare practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, mobile devices, digital calendars (Outlook), and video conferencing (Microsoft Teams).
- Skill in establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships; verbal and written communication; eliciting and gathering information; modeling professional behavior; time management and multitasking; keen observation; sensitivity to needs, feelings, and cultures; managing high‑stress situations; adaptability; making independent decisions.
- Ability to complete work tasks thoroughly; lead and take responsibility; analyze information; recognize and address substance abuse issues; develop interventions; prepare detailed documentation; enter, retrieve and correct data in a computer‑based system; acquire and renew CPR Certification.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university (provide transcripts) OR four years of experience as a DCS Case Aide.
- Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- For employees operating a motor vehicle on state business: current, valid, class‑appropriate driver’s license and completion of required training.
