About the Team and Role

We’re looking for a detail-focused and curious Data and Insights Assistant to support the Gloucestershire Libraries Development Team. Based at Shire Hall in Gloucester, this role plays a vital part in helping us understand how our communities use library services, ensuring our activities, events, and priorities are shaped by real evidence.

Working closely with the Development Manager, Customer Development Coordinators, and the wider service, you’ll help gather, input, and analyse customer data from our library systems and Customer Relationship Management system. You’ll contribute to regular reporting for internal teams and external partners, including Arts Council England, and support colleagues by providing clear insights that guide decision-making.

You’ll also help develop and maintain our feedback and evaluation processes, attend occasional events to support data collection, and contribute to how the service reports on impact and engagement across the county.

About You

You’re methodical, organised, and naturally inquisitive. You enjoy working with data, spotting patterns, and presenting information clearly. You understand the importance of accuracy and confidentiality, and you’re comfortable managing multiple tasks in a busy environment.

You work well as part of a team, communicate clearly, and can adapt to new systems and processes. Whether you’re creating spreadsheets, supporting report preparation, or helping colleagues understand customer insights, you bring reliability, focus, and a positive, proactive approach.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has strong administrative and organisational skills

  • Is confident using digital tools, spreadsheets, and databases

  • Can input, collate, and analyse data accurately

  • Communicates clearly, both in writing and verbally

  • Can manage multiple deadlines and respond to changing priorities

  • Works well both independently and as part of a team

  • Is open to learning new systems and approaches

  • Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive data appropriately

About Us

For all your hard work, you will receive the following:

  • Flexible and agile working opportunities
  • 25.5 days annual leave rising to 30.5 days after 5 years continuous service
  • Plus, an option to purchase 10 days of additional leave per year (pro-rata for part-time staff)
  • Family friendly employer offering benefits to help support you and your family
  • Career development and qualification opportunities
  • Supportive and positive working environment with regular, robust supervision
  • Excellent Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) that provides free, confidential, counselling and advice for employees, available 24 hours a day, online and by telephone.
  • An in-house Occupational Health service
  • Employee discount scheme
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Links to employee networks such as Prism (LGBT+) network and the Young Employees Network. Gloucestershire Salary Sacrifice Green Car Scheme (T&C's apply)
